A Student’s Story: The Future Re-Focused

Matthew Stegall lacked focus and risked not graduating from high school. Fortunately, he successfully earned his high school diploma through an alternative program in which students combined four hours of GED test prep with part-time employment. The following years were relatively productive, but the path was unclear. He worked and took classes at another institution, but he had not found his niche.

It was time for a change.

Change came in the form of a new job as an accounting assistant. He quickly realized that he had found his career, but he knew he needed a degree to be promoted to accounting manager. With a clear goal in mind, the challenge was to find the right institution.

He chose the accounting program at Moraine Park Technical College because “The price was reasonable and unlike other accounting programs, it is offered 100% online.”  He added, “The courses give you a real world look into accounting systems and practices … This will allow me to hit the ground running once I get my degree and start working as an accounting manager.”

Perhaps you’re interested in this type of career as well?

If so, Matthew advises, “Go for it; there is nothing holding you back except for yourself. If I can work 50+ hours a week, and succeed at MPTC with a 3.47 GPA, you can do it as well.”

Matthew is working very hard to lay the foundation for a successful future, and we are here to help. He excitedly shared that his finance’ will join the journey on March 17th, 2017. Congratulations!

From an unfocused youth to a keenly-focused adult, Matthew will make a great accountant.
