A: Satellites help scientists study Earth and space.
Q: What kind of information can satellites provide?
A: Satellites looking toward Earth provide information about clouds, oceans, land and ice. They also measure gases in the atmosphere, such as ozone and carbon dioxide, and the amount of energy that Earth absorbs and emits. And satellites monitor wildfires, volcanoes and their smoke.
Q: How does this information help the world?
From May 3rd to June 2nd, Moraine Park Technical College staff will be participating in the West Bend Corporate Challenge, organized by the Kettle Moraine YMCA. The Moraine Park team, which is sponsored by the Health & Wellness Committee, is open to all Moraine Park employees, no matter which Campus they call home.
MPACTE (Moraine Park Association for Career & Technical Education) held a household supply drive throughout the month April 2016 in honor of Sexual Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Local domestic abuse and homeless shelters were targeted as the recipients of these efforts. Each campus asked staff to donate household supply items the local shelters could utilize.
Who are we and why are we celebrating?
We are MPACTE! The mission of MPACTE (Moraine Park Association for Career & Technical Education) is to provide leadership for the promotion and enhancement of high quality career and technical education, at all levels, in a diverse and changing economic, social and technical environment.
Moraine Park Technical College’s Corrections Club hosted the Milwaukee House of Correction K-9 Unit on Monday.
Narcotic and cell phone demonstrations by German Shepherds and Labradors were given, and the presentation gave attendees a look at the highly skilled K-9 operations used in the criminal justice field.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” It seems we start asking kids that question when they are in 4-K. At that age you typically get answers like a fireman, a teacher, a Green Bay Packer football player. All great professions!
The question is revisited here and there throughout elementary school but once students are in middle school they’ll start doing a bit more career exploration by using sites like Career Cruising or WisCareers. Once they’ve given careers a bit of thought, the next step is to start looking at colleges.
The History of Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated once a year on April 22. It marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. They chose April 22 because it fell between Spring Break and Final Exams.
