Cosmetology “Highlights” – Student Spotlight ~ Liz Wustrack

Cosmo student in Beauty and the Beast

Tell us about yourself:

I’m from Fond du Lac.  I enjoy participating in theater.  Most recently I played Madame de la Grande Bouche (the Wardrobe) in Beauty and the Beast.  I attended UW-Oshkosh for Public Relations and was the Marketing & Communications intern at Grande Cheese and the Social Media Assistant at Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.  I currently serve as the Social Media Chair on the Board of the South Shore Chorale.  I am the President of the Cosmetology Club and President of Moraine Park’s Fond du Lac Student Senate.  In my spare time I enjoy visiting Madison and spending time with my family.

What made  you decide to go into the Cosmetology field?

In high school I did hair for theatrical productions and formal dances.  I have always been interested in experimenting with different hair and makeup techniques.  After being a receptionist at Hair on Monroe in Madison and Texture in Fond du Lac I knew my love of the industry and creative brain were the right career fit for me.  That is what brought me here.

Why did you choose Moraine Park?

Most of my coworkers attended Moraine Park for Cosmetology and had nothing but good things to say about the program.  I like that it is local and close to home.  There is a sense of community that I truly enjoy being a part of.

What do you love most about the program?

I love the hands on experience that we get in this program.  While we do spend time going through Powerpoints and watching demonstrations we spend a lot of time trying skills on our mannequins.  I love that variety.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on being a stylist at a local salon and on weekends doing hair, wigs and makeup for theater productions.
