The Moraine Park Technical College Economic and Workforce Development Department is pleased to welcome Doug Holmes in his new position as Business Representative.

As Holmes put it, “My role is to consult with businesses and other organizations to identify skill gaps of their employees, develop a plan to close those gaps, and then execute the appropriate training. I help businesses become more competitive and profitable, and organizations more effective and efficient by helping their employees acquire new skills or improve their existing skills. The need for organizations to invest in their employees through training has never been more critical to success than in today’s rapidly changing world.  It’s important and it’s why I love what I do.”

Doug comes to MPTC from Blackhawk Technical College, where he was Training and Consulting Services Manager, overseeing the corporate training and professional development seminar programs for the past 6 years. Prior to that, Doug spent the past 20 plus in years in sales, marketing, and management functions in the financial services industry including roles as a Bank Branch Manager and Loan Officer, Vice President of Corporate Development for securities brokerage firm and as Marketing Director for the Graduate School of Banking.

He was also an adjunct instructor at Madison College, teaching courses in Corporate Finance and Banking.  Doug earned his Bachelor’s degree from UW-Stout and his MBA from UW-Madison.

Doug’s wealth of experience and education make him an exceptional and innovative employee training resource for organizations in the health care, business services, government, and manufacturing sectors.

“I am excited to continue to provide the excellent service, support, and expertise that Moraine Park’s clients have come to expect from the college’s corporate training enterprise.  Coming from a similar role at another technical college, I am extremely impressed by the depth, breadth, and quality of training solutions offered by Moraine Park in order to improve the skills of employees and provide them with the tools to make even greater contributions to the efficiency and profitability of their organizations.”

Outside of work, Doug enjoys golf, travel, a variety of outdoor activities, and he is an avid Wisconsin Badger sports fan.
