Career and Technical Education (CTE) month is celebrated throughout the nation and state every year during the month of February. One of the ways Moraine Park Technical College celebrated was with the annual Moraine Park Association of Career and Technical Education (MPACTE) awards banquet, held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac.
The banquet recognized individuals and organizations for their dedication to and excellence in career and technical education. The following Moraine Park Technical College employees were honored with awards: Connie Schaumberg of Theresa, Outstanding Support Professional; Amy Andersen of Oshkosh, Outstanding CTE Leader; Amy Patterson of Beaver Dam, Outstanding Instructor; Melissa Berg of Lake Mills, New Instructor; Donna Freund of St. Peter, Outstanding Member – Community Involvement; Kathy VanEerden of West Bend, Longevity.
The Business Award of Merit went to: Sue Kaiser and Karen Bowe from Michels Corporation for supporting Moraine Park. The award acknowledges companies and individuals outside of the Wisconsin Technical College System that help promote and improve career and technical education in Wisconsin.
Throughout the year, MPACTE supports student achievement by awarding eight $300 scholarships to full-time Moraine Park students and five $200 scholarships to part-time Moraine Park students. Scholarships are co-sponsored by both the Moraine Park Federation of Teachers and the MPACTE organization.
