Adopting a famous quote by Albert Einstein, “Remember Yesterday, Live for Today, Dream for Tomorrow,” as their motto, the nearly 1,120 Class of 2011 graduate candidates from Moraine Park Technical College’s Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac and West Bend campuses will soon head out on new adventures.

Moraine Park President Gayle Hytrek will preside over the College’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. in the Field House at Fond du Lac High School.

The 2011 Commencement Speaker will be James Sebert, superintendent of the Fond du Lac School District.

Each spring semester, a committee of students, staff and faculty select Moraine Park's Student of the Year Award recipient. This year’s winner, John Lippold of Jackson, who is enrolled in the graphics program, will address the graduating class during commencement.

A special award will be presented to Moraine Park’s 2011 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year: Mark Wildman, a 1996 graduate of the Corrections Science associate of applied science program. Wildman is the deputy institution superintendent for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Ethan Allen Schools, a juvenile corrections facility in Wales, Wis.

Associate of applied science degrees, technical diplomas and certificates will be presented by Moraine Park District Board members Mary Kerrigan and Jodine Deppisch.

The graduation processional will be led by bagpiper Gina Crossley, with the ceremonial music performed by Brassination, a brass quintet from the Fond du Lac area. Shady Grove, also from the Fond du Lac area, will provide the pre-ceremonial music. A reception immediately following the ceremony will be held at the high school.

Beta Mu Kappa, Moraine Park's Phi Theta Kappa chapter, is sponsoring a food drive at the commencement. Drop off nonperishable food items from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the table staffed by local chapter members near the entrance of the high school. All donations will benefit local food pantries.
