Training with Italian chefs, visiting food markets and, of course, eating . . . .While ten Moraine Park Technical College Culinary Arts students experience the sights, sounds and especially tastes of Europe, those back in the United States can follow along through the first ever Moraine Park International Education blog.

As Culinary Arts students Haley Gammon of Brandon and Benjamin Christian of Fond du Lac make their way through Germany, Italy, France, Monaco and the Netherlands, they will be providing accounts of their trip through Moraine Park’s social media site, morainepark.edu/stayconnected. The students left on May 21 and return on June 6. Gammon is a second year student and Christian graduated during Moraine Park’s May 21 ceremony.

Moraine Park Culinary Arts students have been part of an exchange partnership created in 2002 between the College and the Friedrich List and Peter Behrens vocational schools in Darmstadt, Germany.

The German students spend approximately two weeks in the U.S. each fall attending classes at Moraine Park, completing projects, touring local companies and visiting cities like Madison and Chicago. During the annual summer trip, Moraine Park students attend classes, participate in social events and tour the city during their first week abroad. In the second week, they head for other parts of Europe such as France, Austria or Italy.
