“Building Your Competitive Edge” is the theme of a manufacturing symposium to take place Tuesday, May 22, in conjunction with May is Manufacturing Month.
Fox Valley, Lakeshore, Moraine Park and Northeast Wisconsin technical colleges will bring internationally-renowned experts on global competitiveness to Wisconsin to discuss strategy and answer questions. The symposium runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is geared toward executives, managers, human resources personnel, marketing and sales professionals and other front-line leaders.
The event takes place simultaneously in four cities: Appleton, Green Bay, Cleveland (Wis.) and West Bend.
It will combine localized activities at the four technical colleges with videoconference presentations and Q&A sessions with the two featured speakers:

He will speak at Moraine Park Technical College and be joined via a live video link with participants at Fox Valley, Lakeshore and Northeast Wisconsin technical colleges.

He will speak at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, with participation by video link at Fox Valley, Lakeshore and Moraine Park technical colleges.
Participants also will learn about local services, training and expertise offered to manufacturers by the four colleges which formed the Advanced Manufacturing Solutions member colleges.

Enhancing the competitiveness of manufacturers is a high priority for the Wisconsin Technical College System colleges in Northeast Wisconsin.
“Manufacturing continues to be a vital economic driver for Wisconsin and when you add in the industries that support manufacturers, nearly one-half of Wisconsin's economy is tied to manufacturing,” said Gayle Hytrek, Moraine Park president. “Flexibility is key to the growth of the Wisconsin's manufacturing industry. Fortunately, more than 80 percent of Wisconsin manufacturers are small- to medium size firms – many of them located right here in Moraine Park's district. These smaller firms tend to be more flexible and are able to adjust to rapid changes in the industry. The College has also had to be flexible in what we teach, how we teach and when we teach it to meet the diverse needs of this industry. That's our challenge but we are dedicated to supporting our manufacturers and in providing the highly skilled workforce they need.”
The registration deadline is May 15. The fee of $95 includes both books, Talent Force and Blue Ocean Strategy, plus all materials and lunch. There is a reduced fee of $50 for the presentations without purchasing the books.
