Moraine Park Technical College’s new Industrial Maintenance Technician program gets under way with the start of the fall semester on Aug. 27.
The two-year technical diploma is geared toward several technology-driven fields including manufacturing, food and beverage processing, and building maintenance.
Through this program, students develop a variety of technical skills in electrical/electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, computers and computer-controlled interface units. Programmable logic controllers, motors and drives, servo hydraulic systems and closed-loop positioning are studied. Hands-on course work gives students a comprehensive understanding of how these technical skill areas are linked together to create automated systems.
“Skills involving the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial machinery have been in demand,” said James Eden, Moraine Park executive dean of manufacturing, trades and apprenticeship.
