Dr. Gayle Hytrek (pictured), Moraine Park Technical College president, and Jodine Deppisch, Moraine Park District Board member, spoke at the recent annual Leadership Congress of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT).
Dr. Hytrek, Deppisch and David Haines, education director at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution, gave a presentation entitled, “Win-Win Partnerships: Certified Vocational Programming in Wisconsin Prisons.” Deppisch is the warden at Fox Lake Correctional Institution. The presentation outlined the impact prison-based education has on reducing the number of paroled inmates who commit new offenses and return to prison. Moraine Park offers programs for inmates at five Wisconsin correctional institutions.
ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards that offers a broad range of benefits to community colleges, individual educators and corporations world-wide. Its 2007 congress took place Sept. 26-29 in San Diego, Calif.
