Developing an idea for a small business is complex, but not impossible. To assist prospective business owners, Moraine Park Technical College is taking registrations for the popular entrepreneurship training experience, E-SeedTM.
The 45-hour, 15-week course begins Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Moraine Park’s Fond du Lac campus, 235 N. National Ave. Classes are held from 6-9 p.m. E-Seed will also be offered in Appleton, Waupaca and Oshkosh.
“Taking the E-Seed class is important for anyone considering starting a business or looking to expand their existing business,” said Amy Pietsch, director of Fox Valley Technical College’s Venture Center. “Students learn everything from selecting the appropriate legal entity to management and leadership, marketing and finances.”
The classroom setting fosters networking and participation with both start-up and existing local businesses. Guest speakers, including attorneys, bankers, accountants, marketing professionals and successful entrepreneurs, bring additional insight to the weekly classes.
Participants develop a comprehensive business plan to act as a road map for start-up and future growth. The business planning process dissects every aspect of being in business. Students learn to set realistic goals, establish a budget, identify their market and predict cash flow.
According to Lori Thiel, owner of Open Road Harley in Fond du Lac and a former E-Seed participant, “The E-Seed program gives a realistic approach to getting into your own business while aiding you with useful tools to become successful. I found the program beneficial for two reasons – you learn by preparing a thorough strategic business plan and by being able to interact with quality resources who are credible business owners.”
The registration deadline is Feb. 8. The $1,000 fee covers tuition, materials and refreshments. Tuition assistance is available. For more information, visit www.morainepark.edu/eseed. To register, call 920-924-3449 or e-mail email@example.com.
