Moraine Park Foundation plans second Phantom British Open Golf Event

by admin10. March 2008 19:00

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Phantom British Open, the Moraine Park Foundation will hold another phantom golf event on Thursday, March 27.

The real 2008 Open Championship will take place July 17-20 at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Lancashire, England. Phantom British Open golfers will play 18 holes of a simulated Royal Birkdale from the comfort of the clubhouse at Whispering Springs Golf Club in Fond du Lac. The event is a scholarship fundraiser for Moraine Park Technical College students.

Registration begins at 6 p.m., with the game getting under way at 6:30 p.m. Participants “shoot” 18 holes by drawing scores from marked range balls, and can purchase mulligans or have the pro take the shot. Top prizes include Titleist golf bags, dinner packages, tickets to the U.S. Bank Championship and Royal Birkdale merchandise. There will also be 50-50 raffles, a silent auction and a skins game. Food will be served, with a cash bar available.

Festival Foods and Wal-Mart of Fond du Lac are co-sponsors of the event.

The entry fee is $25 per person, limited to 100 participants. For reservations, call Debbie at 920-924-3263 or e-mail dmartin@morainepark.edu.

All proceeds will benefit the Moraine Park Foundation, Inc. For more information about the Foundation, visit www.morainepark.edu/foundation.
