“I am pleased and excited to be appointed to the Moraine Park District Board,” said Miller. “In these times of recession, technical colleges will play an important role in restoring our economy by providing the technical training for future employees in our ever-changing workforce. I look forward to working with our instructors and campus leaders to provide the technical skills required to compete in the world marketplace.”

Miller is executive director of Mid-Moraine Municipal Association in West Bend, which includes four cities and ten villages in Washington and Ozaukee counties, as well as a Washington County Board supervisor. He served as mayor of the City of West Bend from 1987 to 2005 after having been an alderman for eight years, and has also served as president on the boards of directors for the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and the Alliance of Cities. In addition, Miller was on the board of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce. He is retired from Ameritech Services Inc. in Milwaukee, where he was an accounting methods manager.

Miller has been awarded the Charles J. McNeer Leadership Award and Life Time Achievement Award from the Public Policy Forum, and the Elected Official Award from the Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association. He was appointed by Gov. James Doyle to the State of Wisconsin Judicial Commission in 2003, serving as chairperson in 2006-07, and to the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District (Miller Park Board) in 2008, in which he represents the taxpayers of Washington County.

We are pleased and excited to have Mike joining the Moraine Park District Board,” said Moraine Park President Gayle Hytrek. “With his strong governmental involvement at not only the county level but the state and local levels as well, Mike will definitely have the pulse of Moraine Park taxpayers and be able to provide excellent input to our College.”

In service to the West Bend community, Miller has been a paid on-call firefighter and rescue squad member; a manager of minor and Little League baseball teams; and a Junior Achievement presenter.
