Techniques Salon and Spa at Moraine Park Technical College’s Fond du Lac campus is offering a Nail Technician certificate that prepares students for the state licensing examination to practice as a manicurist.
The program runs Monday through Thursday for 20 weeks (324 hours total) from Aug. 25, 2008, through February 2009. To help students become adept at the latest in nail enhancement advances, the certificate features a state-of-the-art curriculum that reflects the science and creativity of hand and foot health and beauty. Students will learn how to give manicures and pedicures and apply acrylic, gel and sculptured nails as well as nail art. The coursework also entails law, regulations, business management and ethics to help the new professional nail artist and future businessperson face the ongoing challenges of keeping up with trends, science and products.
Students must be accepted into the certificate to be eligible to enroll in the courses. Class size is limited to 16 students, and none will be accepted following the second class session. Fees must be paid before the program starts.
