Lunch-hour events return to Moraine Park in late August

The lunch-hour concerts, comedy and other entertainment are returning to Moraine Park Technical College with the start of the 2008-09 academic year. The fall semester begins the week of Aug. 25 and features several events that are open to the community.


Fond du Lac campus: A Family Welcome Party on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. will feature exotic animals, an animal trainer presentation, and photo and petting opportunities with the animals. Kids can have fun on four party inflatables: an obstacle course, gladiator joust, jungle moonwalk and slide. A picnic-style meal will be served. This free event is open to the public and children of all ages.


On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the Well Hungarians will perform from11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The group was named the 2006 Country Band of the Year by New Music Weekly Magazine Awards. Performances include original music as well as country, rock and classic cover songs ranging from the Charlie Daniels Band and Rascal Flatts to Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The public can purchase lunch for $5 per meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Submit your name for a door-prize drawing for an LCD-screen TV.

West Bend campus: 32 Below will play their country/rock blend on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the courtyard. The band has played clubs, festivals and small arenas around the Midwest and Southeast and shared the stage with Sawyer Brown, Trick Pony, Montgomery Gentry, Heart, Craig Morgan and the Spin Doctors. Beaver Dam campus: Comedian Michael Palascak will perform on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the commons. Palascak trained at The Second City in Chicago and has performed at clubs and colleges around the country, recently appearing on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham.
