Moraine Park Technical College will conduct a security drill at all three of its campuses as part of the College’s annual Professional Development Days for faculty and staff. The security drill will simulate a “shooter on campus” activity with College staff working with the local SWAT teams in their respective communities.
The Fond du Lac campus will hold its drill on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. The West Bend campus will conduct its drill on Friday, Aug. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. and the Beaver Dam campus will also hold its drill on Friday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The campuses will remain open but services will not be available during the drill.
“In light of school-shooting incidents around the country such as the tragedy at Virginia Tech, Moraine Park Technical College is testing an emergency plan to ensure a swift and organized response should this type of situation ever occur at one of our campuses,” said Dr. Gayle Hytrek, Moraine Park president. “The drill is the first of this kind for Moraine Park and the College is looking forward to using this learning opportunity to get prepared. It will also be an opportunity to put our Crisis Response Plan into place and determine what worked, what didn't and where changes need to be made.”
