The ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) Carpentry Apprenticeship program at Moraine Park Technical College’s Fond du Lac campus held its annual local skill competition to qualify for the state and national ABC skill competitions.

The winner of the local competition was Scott Poklasny, a fourth-year apprentice from Hartford. He is employed by North Central Construction of Fond du Lac.

Other apprentices who will participate in the state ABC Skill Competition are Dustin Pagel of Neenah, who is employed by Radtke Contractors, Inc. of Winneconne; Nick Collin of Mt. Calvary, who is employed by Burg Homes and Design of Malone; and Brian Terranova of Racine, who is employed by Geoff's Construction, LLC of Wind Lake. All are third-year apprentices.

“The competition involved a written test of carpentry skills and a practical competition which involved wood and steel wall faming, concrete forming, roof framing and finish trim work,” said Moraine Park carpentry instructor Gary Roehrig.
