Moraine Park Technical College’s Beaver Dam Campus will host ACT Prep Plus classes this spring to help high school students be better prepared to take the ACT college entrance exam on June 13.
The ACT Assessment is a standardized college entrance exam used by colleges throughout the country as part of their admissions requirements. ACT Prep Plus consists of five classes that focus on the four ACT subject areas and test-taking strategies. Because the curriculum uses actual ACT problems, students gain a competitive edge on test day.
“There are many online options for studying for the ACT test,” said Bonnie Weiland Hare, Moraine Park counselor, “but this ‘face to face’ instruction provides students with the best environment to learn test-taking strategies, solve problems and ask questions.”
Classes will take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in Room K-201. The dates and subjects are as follows:
· Saturday, April 18 – English content
· Saturday, April 25 – reading and writing content
· Saturday, May 9 – math content
· Saturday, May 16 – continued math and science content
· Saturday, May 23 – full 3.5-hour practice test (runs until 12:30 p.m.)
The cost for all five classes is $125. Students can pick up a brochure from their high school guidance counselor.
A registration form is included in the brochure, or students can contact ACT Prep Plus, LLC in Menomonee Falls at
262-255-9580. For more information, contact Weiland Hare at 920-887-4441.
There will be additional sessions this fall for the October test date and in spring 2010 for the April and June test dates.
