Make Moraine Park student-run store a holiday shopping stop

As you make your holiday shopping rounds, stop by Moraine Park Technical College’s Beaver Dam campus on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3-4, for some gift ideas.

Sponsored by the Business Professionals Club at Moraine Park, the student-run Seasonal Solutions holiday store will feature unique gift baskets, build-your-own gift baskets, stocking stuffers, decorations, gift wrapping services and more. While browsing for gifts, shoppers can enjoy free cookies, cider, hot chocolate, coffee and holiday music. Seasonal Solutions will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 3 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the campus commons.

The Business Professionals Club, a group of business students, is operating the holiday shop. The club raised money to purchase the store’s inventory by auctioning gift cards/certificates that were donated by Bane’s Auto, Family Video, Feil's Supper Club, Gene’s Tires, John's Bar and Grill, Kornely's Craft and Hobby Center, M Therese Gift Shop, Party-Lite Candles and Tim’s Auto in Beaver Dam, plus Oak Central in Oakfield and Prairie Mobil Mart in Fond du Lac. Items were also donated by other students and current and retired Moraine Park staff.

“This was established as a real-life learning activity last year to help students in the Business Organization course on the Beaver Dam campus learn how to start up and run a business, including interviewing, hiring, managing, promoting products or services, selecting a business name, etc.,” said Brenda Block, Moraine Park instructor and club advisor. “Most of the sales profits will go toward future business endeavors and additional learning experiences.”

Members of the Business Professionals Club will be Christmas caroling in the community and will hand out cards with details about the holiday store.
