At an October meeting of Moraine Park Technical College’s District Student Government, two Moraine Park students were elected to the Wisconsin Student Government (WSG).
Amanda Topel of West Bend, a member of the Moraine Park West Bend campus Student Senate, was elected WSG governor for 2009-10 and is representing Moraine Park. She is enrolled in the Administrative Assistant associate of applied science degree program.
Dion Meux of Fond du Lac, a member of the Fond du Lac campus Student Senate, was elected WSG lieutenant governor and will serve for 2009-011, moving into the governor role in his second year. He is enrolled in the Marketing associate of applied science degree program.
The Wisconsin Student Government is a student-run organization representing more than 460,000 technical college students across the state. WSG participates in the shared governance of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) and seeks to advance higher education by empowering current and future students to advocate on their own behalf for the accessibility, affordability and quality of the WTCS. WSG addresses political and other issues that affect students, faculty, the system's financial concerns and its existence.
Moraine Park’s Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac and West Bend campuses each have a Student Senate to provide student activities and to address student government business. Moraine Park’s District Student Government addresses college-wide student issues and provides tri-campus student activities.
