On Friday, April 23, the Moraine Park Foundation, Society Insurance and the Culinary Arts program at Moraine Park Technical College took gourmet dinner guests on a ports-of-call “cruise” featuring the cuisine of Mediterranean countries.
Spain, Morocco, Greece, Italy and France were the culinary destinations at Moraine Park’s Fond du Lac campus. This annual dinner, which features a different theme each year, benefits the Moraine Park Foundation’s general scholarship fund.
Appetizers and wine reminiscent of Spain and Morocco were served, followed by the main courses with Greek and Italian influences featuring avgolemono (soup), a Greek salad improvisation, Chianti sorbet laced with fresh basil, filet of beef tenderloin with Spanish ham, and Grande aged provolone cheese and a mushroom duxelle. Musicians from the Winnebago Lutheran Academy provided musical entertainment, sponsored by Fox Valley Savings Bank.
After dinner, guests enjoyed French sweets and pastries as well as Blue Goose Blend coffee by Alterra, provided by the Blue Goose Coffee House in Horicon Bank, and dessert wine.
More than $4,500 was raised for the Foundation’s general scholarship fund as well as scholarships for Culinary Arts program students.
