It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Beaver Dam campus with Moraine Park Technical College’s Christmas in a Shoebox event. Students got an early start spreading holiday cheer by collecting over 1,000 donated items and packing about 35 boxes to send to troops overseas, who won’t be able to spend the holiday season with their families this year.

Moraine Park students, faculty and staff donated items from the Troops Wish List over the past few weeks in preparation for the Christmas in a Shoebox event. The boxes contained small items like books, DVDs, toiletries, microwave popcorn, Badger and Packer items and holiday decorations.

“This was the perfect way to send our appreciation and holiday cheer to the men and women serving overseas this holiday season,” said Lisa Manuell, Beaver Dam student life specialist.

Cosponsors of the event were the Beaver Dam Student Senate and the Moraine Park Association for Career
and Technical Education. The boxes were shipped by, and H&R Block of
Beaver Dam paid for the shipping boxes.
