Moraine Park Technical College’s Hartford Regional Center, located at Hartford Union High School, offers an opportunity to ease into basic computer knowledge with a series of five beginner computer courses. By taking the five courses offered through Computer Basics for Beginners, participants can receive a solid foundation in building computer skills for personal, professional or educational use.

Computer Basics for Beginners will cover Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; keyboarding, document processing, computer literacy and computer basics. Classes are held on either Saturday mornings or Monday afternoons. Session one of Computer Basics is available on Jan. 15 and 29 or Feb. 7 and 21. Session two is available on Feb. 5, 19 and 28 or March 14. Session three is available on Feb. 26, March 12 and 21 and April 11. Session four is available on March 19, April 2 and 18 and May 9. The fifth and final session is available on April 9 and 16 and May 16 and 23.

Each session is $30 to attend, with the fifth session costing $19.

For those interested in self-directed learning with instructor support, a self-paced computer lab is open at the regional center from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday and Thursday evenings. The Office Software Suite Certificate or Office Advanced Suite are both available and can be earned entirely self-paced.
