Moraine Park Technical College was well represented at a recent Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association awards ceremony, taking home two awards that honored Vernon Jung as Board Member of the Year and Barbara Brown as Distinguished Alumnus.
Jung, of Kewaskum, was recognized as District Board Member of the Year because of his commitment to Moraine Park, technical education and the community. He graduated from Moraine Park’s Machine Tooling Technics program and is now a valued member of Moraine Park’s District Board. Jung will represent his state and community at this year’s Annual Leadership Congress, as part of the Gates Foundation Initiative on Completion committee. He was also one of six Wisconsin Technical college trustees selected to participate in a doctoral study last fall.
Brown, of Mayville, is a registered nurse with 30 years of clinical experience who got her educational start in Moraine Park’s Nursing Assistant program. She continued to pursue a Bachelor’s degree and is currently working on her Master’s. She has served as a Nursing Assistant program instructor at Moraine Park since 2007 in addition to her position as a part-time nurse at a long-term care agency. It’s Brown’s commitment to education, volunteering and healthcare that earned her this honor.
