Moraine Park Technical College Business Professionals of America (BPA) students recently headed to Washington, D.C., for the National Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference. Jennifer Kritz of West Bend, Destin Kuehl of Random Lake, Patrick Cox of West Bend, and Liz Kuble of Jackson, had top placement in the state leadership conference in Rice Lake this past February. Kritz, Kuehl and Kuble continued to the national competition.

Cox and Kritz are in Moraine Park’s Business Management program, and Kuehl and Kuble are in the Accounting program. Instructors Carrie Schmidt and Cynthia Bernhard advise Moraine Park’s BPA Club, and Bernhard accompanied the students to Washington, D.C.

Kuble placed 15 out of 30 in Fundamental Word Processing; Kuehl placed 10 out of 26 in Managerial Accounting, and Kritz placed 6 out of 24 in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications and 20 out of 26 in Integrated Office Applications.

“This was an incredible learning experience for us,” said Kuble. “In addition to the competitions, we attended business workshops, gained leadership skills and learned how to market ourselves in the business world.”

Kritz agreed. “It was fun to meet fellow BPA members from other states like Delaware, Alaska and New Mexico. I’m glad I got to have this experience and can’t wait to help in future events as a BPA alumnus.”

Moraine Park’s BPA Club is for business, accounting and IT students interested in preparing for the workforce by gaining experience in leadership and citizenship and strengthening academic and technological skills. For more information about the business programs at Moraine Park, visit
