Brush up on your backhand throw, there’s a new disc golf course in town. Moraine Park Technical College’s West Bend campus is home to a nine-hole disc golf course, which opened in early September. The course is especially unique because it was created through the collaborative efforts of Moraine Park students, staff and community members. Metal fabrication students made the baskets, and graphic design students provided a first picture of the course, showing the area and suggested basket placements.
Moraine Park was able to create the course with little capital dollars due to the generosity of community sponsors. PMF Trucking and Landscape Supply; Moraine Park President Dr. Sheila Ruhland; Jackson Truck Body, Inc; Kettle Moraine Coatings, Inc; and Owner of WiDye Discs, Josh Hamm, are hole sponsors of the disc golf course.
Anyone who is interested is welcome to play on the course. According to Pete Rettler, Moraine Park’s campus and community partner on the West Bend campus, quite a few folks have already given the course a try. “The disc golf course is a wonderful example of a student, staff and community collaboration. The course is beautiful and a great enhancement for the West Bend campus,” said Rettler.
Moraine Park’s West Bend campus is located on 2151 North Main Street in West Bend. For more information or to become a hole sponsor, call 262-335-5706. For more information on Moraine Park, visit morainepark.edu.
