The Carry and Conceal Weapons (CCW) bill will take effect for residents of Wisconsin on Nov. 1 and Moraine Park Technical College is offering a class that will cover the requirements and laws pertinent to the Wisconsin Concealed carry laws. Classes are offered on Nov. 8 on Moraine Park’s Fond du Lac campus and on Dec. 1 on Moraine Park’s West Bend campus. Both classes are from 6 to 10 p.m. The class is titled Concealed Carry – Personal Protection.
Participants will learn personal protection techniques to increase their performance and understanding in a self-defense situation. Discussion topics include home defense, communication, physical placement, weapon retention, proper draw and firing positions, and legal review of Wisconsin self-defense laws.
The course will blend hands-on participation with discussion, but will not involve live fire exercises. Live weapons or ammunition are prohibited from the classroom. The class meets the training requirements for the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Permits.
The instructor, Scott Bretl, is the owner and instructor of “Just Carry” and owner of North Shore Investigations, Inc. out of Milwaukee. He was a Port Washington police officer for 11 years and currently holds a Certification for Concealed Firearm Permit Instruction from the State of Utah Department of Public Safety. He received his National Rifle Association Certifications for: Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home in 2010. He has maintained his National Certified Investigator/Inspection Training certification since 2004.
