Schwantes to serve six-year term

John Schwantes of Elkhart Lake has been appointed to the Wisconsin Technical College (WTCS) Board as a public member. Schwantes, director of Plant Member Services for Johnsonville Sausage, will serve a six-year term.

Schwantes received an associate degree in Industrial Engineering from Moraine Park Technical College, a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Milwaukee School of Engineering and a master’s degree in Labor Relations and Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He is a member of the Bay Area Workforce Development Board, the Operations Roundtable of Sheboygan County and the Advisory Board for Human Resources at Lakeshore Technical College.

Schwantes is looking forward to contributing to the 13-member board, which establishes statewide policies and standards for educational programs and services provided by the 16 technical college districts. The Board also administers state and federal aid to the colleges.

“The technical colleges provide a valuable service for the state in matching education and skills training to the needs of business and industry,” said Schwantes.
