Career and Technical Education month is celebrated throughout the nation and state every year during the month of February. This year’s theme “CTE: Careers Through Education,” illustrated how CTE educates students to be college-and career-ready, preparing them for high-wage, high-demand career fields. One of the ways Moraine Park Technical College celebrated was with the annual Moraine Park Association of CTE awards banquet, held Monday, Feb. 20 at the Columbian in West Bend.
The banquet recognized individuals and organizations for their dedication to and excellence in career and technical education. The following individuals were honored with awards: Brenda Nickel of Randolph, Outstanding Support Professional; Bonnie Bauer of Germantown, Outstanding CTE Leader; Lisa Pollard of Fond du Lac, Outstanding Instructor; Brenda Schaefer of Fond du Lac, New Instructor; Mary Pat Thompson of Cedarburg, Ann Torgersen of Fond du Lac and Bonnie Weiland-Hare of Campbellsport, Longevity.
The Business Awards of Merit went to: Briggs and Stratton, Kohler Company and Mercury Marine for supporting Moraine Park.
Throughout the year, MPACTE supports student achievement by awarding eight $300 scholarships to full-time Moraine Park students and five $200 scholarships to part-time Moraine Park students. Scholarships are cosponsored by both the Moraine Park Federation of Teachers and the MPACTE organization.
