Ceremony set for May 19
Adopting a famous quote by Peter Drucker, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” as their motto, the nearly 930 Class of 2012 graduate candidates from Moraine Park Technical College’s Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac and West Bend campuses will soon be creating new futures.
Moraine Park President Sheila Ruhland will preside over the College’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m. in the Field House at Fond du Lac High School. To commemorate the College’s Centennial, each of the approximately 300 graduates participating in the ceremony will receive a medallion engraved with Moraine Park’s 100 year mark.
The 2012 Commencement Speaker will be Steve Peterson, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Mid-States Aluminum Corporation, Fond du Lac, and 1969 Moraine Park Alumnus. Peterson has served as President and CEO of Mid-States Aluminum since 2006. Prior to joining Mid-States Aluminum, Peterson spent 36 years with Giddings & Lewis, LLC, retiring as President and CEO in 2005. In 2009, Peterson was presented with the C.L. Greiber Award of Merit by the Moraine Park Association of Career and Technical Education in recognition of his contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education in Wisconsin.
Associate of applied science degrees, technical diplomas and certificates will be presented by Moraine Park District Board members Mike Miller, Shirley Kitchen, Vernon Jung and Jodine Deppisch.
The graduation processional will be led by bagpiper Gina Crossley, with the ceremonial music performed by Brassination, a brass quintet from the Fond du Lac area. Shady Grove, also from the Fond du Lac
area, will provide the pre-ceremonial music. A reception immediately following the ceremony will be held at the high school.
