The end of the school year for Moraine Park Technical College is a time to recognize students for their accomplishments throughout the year. The EDGE Spring Awards Banquet was no exception, recently held on Moraine Park’s West Bend campus where 112 awards were given to the EDGE program students. Sixty-seven students received the Academic Achievement award, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Six students received the Academic Excellence award, with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher.
“During the spring banquet, EDGE staff acknowledged the academic success and personal victories of the students in the program,” said Claude Magee, Student Success Services Grant Activity associate.  “The goal of the award banquet is to encourage our students to continue to push themselves in pursuit of their goals. A quote by Walt Disney best describes THE EDGE students, ‘All our dreams can come true-if we have the courage to pursue them’.”
The Awesome Award went to 20 students who made it a point to be exceptionally active in the program. Seven students received the Above and Beyond Award, for students who have overcome great obstacles this semester and still remained in school and successful in their classes and program requirements.
There were 12 May 2012 EDGE program graduates with 4 in attendance that included Kelly Dressel of Sussex, Teri Cribb and Austin Hecker of West Bend; and Bonnie Weiss of Kewaskum.
The Moraine Park EDGE program is in place to assist students with academic advising, student leadership development, financial aid assistance, goal and career planning, transfer assistance and any additional support EDGE students may need.  For more information on Moraine Park, visit
