STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Cosmetology student Myranda Abhold

Moraine Park Cosmetology student putting perm rollers in customers hair
If you’ve been a customer of Renaissance Salon & Spa in Fond du Lac during the past year, chances are you’ve either heard the cheery voice of or seen the smiling face of Myranda Abhold. She’s a cosmetology student here at Moraine Park, and here’s a little insight into her journey into this career field, in her own words:

Tell us about yourself:

My name is Myranda and I am a graduate of WLA (Winnebago Lutheran Academy.  I was raised in rural Campbellsport and recently moved to FDL.

What program have you studied at MPTC and why:

I study Cosmetology and I chose this field because I have always loved hair and make-up and I enjoy working with people.

What are our plans after graduation:

I have already been hired at Renaissance Salon & Spa in Fond du Lac.  I have been there for over a year as a receptionist and will be starting as a stylist upon graduation.

What aspect of your education made the biggest impact on you?

My education has made me realize how much time an effort goes into being a Cosmetologist.  This has been the hardest year so far, but I am so happy I am doing this.

What advice would you give someone considering college/your program?

I would tell them to be prepared to spend a lot of time outside of school working on their skills and to look at every mistake as a learning experience.
