First time offered! Moraine Park offering 3-credit Introduction to Problem Gambling Class

As the need for counselors training in treating problem gambling increases, Moraine Park Technical College will now be able to meet that need.

Moraine Park has partnered with the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling and will be offering a 5 credit certificate for Introduction to Problem Gambling.  Introduction to Problem Gambling I will be offered in Fall 2017 and Introduction to Problem Gambling II will be offered in Spring 2018.

Wheels of Fortune: EMS/Paramedic program gets huge donation

We’re very excited here in our Moraine Park Technical College Emergency Medical Technician (EMS) / Paramedic programs, and for good reason!

Automobile accidents, heart attacks, drowning, childbirth and gunshot wounds all require immediate, professional medical attention – and we’ve always trained our students extensively to handle these situations (and much more) with quick, competent care.

But while we’ve always been able to train our students on what to do when they arrive to these situations, until now, we haven’t been able to help them simulate the journey to get there.

Mr. Mike Krueger, president of Lifestar Emergency Medical Services, has changed that in a big way. He just donated a 2009 Ford ambulance to our Moraine Park EMS/Paramedic programs.

Hot Stuff: Fire program receives new training tool

Moraine Park’s Fire Program instructors and adjunct instructors were recently trained on the Bullex fire car prop that the college was able to purchase through a Statewide Leadership Grant. One of the requirements of the grant was that the item needed to be a mobile training lab.  This Bullex prop came with a trailer, so our instructors will be able to take it around to the various fire departments in the Moraine Park district.

We serve a total of 58 fire departments within our district.

The prop is fueled by propane and produces 1 million BTU’s of heat. How hot is that?
