For the eighth-consecutive year, Moraine Park Technical College is pleased to have made Victory Media’s list of Military Friendly Schools for its commitment in serving veterans as students.

Institutions earning the 2018 Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey.

The Moraine Park Radiography graduating class certainly knows the definitions of the term “RAD.”

According to Dictionary.com, rad is both “a unit used to measure energy absorbed by a material from radiation” and “a slang term for extraordinary; wonderful; awesome, chill, gnarly.” They did a particularly “RAD” job on their national board exams, with all students passing their exam for a 100% pass rate! When Carol Van Laarhoven first returned to school to earn her high school credential, I don’t think she really believed she could accomplish her dream. Many around her didn’t believe it was possible either. It was her Hail Mary attempt at succeeding.

Carol attended high school in Milwaukee but never graduated. As many students, Carol struggled through the difficult teenage years, even attempting suicide. It was a bleak time in her life. Continue reading

The family of J. Patrick Barnes developed the DAISY Foundation in 1999, to show their deep appreciation for nurses who provided exceptional and compassionate care during the last few weeks of Barnes’ life. By developing this foundation, Barnes’ family gained closure and a great remembrance of their loved one.

The award concept blossomed tremendously and now nurses across the nation are receiving a touching and well-deserved recognition. Extraordinary nurses are presented the Daisy award after being nominated by patients who found their nursing care to be unique, empathic and above the norm. Continue reading

Eight more students recently successfully completed Moraine Park Technical College’s Nursing Assistant (CNA) boot camp–a rigorous three-week, 120 hour, 3 credit, learning experience. Students spent their clinical hours training at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. Continue reading

Christine Gil is our Moraine Park’s 2017-18 District Student Ambassador!

The role of the Ambassador is to actively serve as a member of student government, advocate for Moraine Park and the Wisconsin Technical College System as a whole, assist with College activities and events and represent the student body within the community.

All that said, you may have two burning questions remaining: The first being “What is the meaning of life?” And the second being “Who exactly is Christine Gil and why is she a perfect fit for Student Ambassador?”
