West Bend Health and Wellness Corporate Challenge participants

From May 3rd to June 2nd, Moraine Park Technical College staff will be participating in the West Bend Corporate Challenge, organized by the Kettle Moraine YMCA.  The Moraine Park team, which is sponsored by the Health & Wellness Committee, is open to all Moraine Park employees, no matter which Campus they call home.  Continue reading

Supplying a Solution

MPACTE members with household supply donations to Solutions Center

MPACTE (Moraine Park Association for Career & Technical Education) held a household supply drive throughout the month April 2016 in honor of Sexual Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Local domestic abuse and homeless shelters were targeted as the recipients of these efforts. Each campus asked staff to donate household supply items the local shelters could utilize. VIDEO: Moraine Park hosts K-9 unit demos

Moraine Park Technical College’s Corrections Club hosted the Milwaukee House of Correction K-9 Unit on Monday.

Narcotic and cell phone demonstrations by German Shepherds and Labradors were given, and the presentation gave attendees a look at the highly skilled K-9 operations used in the criminal justice field.  Continue reading

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” It seems we start asking kids that question when they are in 4-K. At that age you typically get answers like a fireman, a teacher, a Green Bay Packer football player. All great professions!

The question is revisited here and there throughout elementary school but once students are in middle school they’ll start doing a bit more career exploration by using sites like Career Cruising or WisCareers. Once they’ve given careers a bit of thought, the next step is to start looking at colleges. Continue reading

Did you know Moraine Park is a Fair Trade College?  Actually we are the first Fair Trade technical college in the U.S.  Go MPTC!  In May, 2016 we will celebrate our one year anniversary as a fair trade college!

What is Fair Trade?

Fair trade supports farmers and artisans in developing countries who are socially and economically marginalized. These producers lack economic opportunity and often face steep hurdles in finding markets and customers for their goods. Fair Trade is about making a tremendous impact on artisan and farmer communities while offering great products to the public all around the world. Continue reading
