Along with learning hair cutting, perming and coloring, Cosmetology students also get to explore the world of Facials.  Some of what they are learning and practicing in the current eight week term include:

  • Skin Analysis and Consultation
  • Skin Types
  • Skin Care Products
  • Facial Massage
  • Facial Equipment
  • Treatments and Procedures

The main purpose of a facial is to preserve the health of the skin.  Continue reading

Meet Britt!  She is married, a mother of three and a Cosmetology student.  Britt has always been interested in doing hair and even though she had her children young, she said when her youngest went to school, so would she.  And she DID!  All three kids and herself had their first day of school together!!  When Britt is not in school she enjoys spending time with family biking and hiking. Cosmetology “Highlights” – The Life of a Cosmetology Student

Meet Emma.  She decided to try Cosmetology at the suggestion of her hairstylist.

After being homeschooled by her Mom and attending UW-FDL and UW-Washingon County for general education classes, she thought, “why not.”

Emma then started her cosmetology career here at Moraine Park in January 2017.  Emma has already been hired as a receptionist at Lavish Salon and Spa in Mayville.  She plans on taking her boards along with her classmates on Nov. 6, 2017 so she is ready to start working on clients as soon as she graduates in December 2017. Cosmetology “Highlights” – The Life of a Cosmetology Student

This week the Senior students get a glimpse of what the State Board exam is like.  Every Cosmetology class participates in this mock board test so they are prepared when they take the actual test.  A couple days before the mock test, students pack the supplies needed to complete the test.  There are specific guidelines and processes that have to be followed.   Continue reading
