Do you have what it takes to run like an Angel?

Hannah Hillesheim, Instructional Technology Specialist at Moraine Park, smiles with athlete from TEAM TRIUMPH

Although we all have a competitive spark living inside of us, some have physical limitations that prevent them from participating in athletic events. Enter the Angels of my TEAM TRIUMPH. Disabled athletes, known as Captains, become part of a team of able-athletes known as Angels. Captains provide inspiration and a sense of joy and excitement all the while being pushed by an Angel in a race using a specially designed chair. Captains and Angels share their moment of glory together when they cross the finish line as a team.

On Saturday July 22, 2017, Hannah Hillesheim, Instructional Technology Specialist at Moraine Park Technology College and Interactive Media Design program alum, participated in the Green Bay Packers 5K Run at Lambeau Field as an Angel.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the “Wearing of the Blue”?

Graphic Communications students at Moraine Park Technical College learn to effectively use images and color together, as well as the importance of considering culture as it influences a design. One example out of the many great historic examples of the emotional power of color, and how that color is linked to a cultural symbol, is the story of why we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the color green and shamrock.

Throwback: Computers, then and now

Vintage photo of Moraine Park student working on card punching machine

It was John F. Kennedy that once said “Man is still the most extraordinary computer of all,” and we’d argue those words remain as true today as when they were uttered more than a half-century ago.

But what has changed significantly, though, are computers themselves, so we thought it would be fun to look back at the changing technology our College’s staff and students have used over the years.

Moraine Park students help with “Humans of Oshkosh” book

Moraine Park female students creating page for "Humans of Oshkosh" book

Our students recently used a collaborative project to help showcase local first responders, as well as share stories of a wide-ranging spectrum of area citizens – young, old, unemployed, business owners, and far more.

This opportunity came through Moraine Park’s “Design Production Planning: Workflow” class. Students in this class worked with a Quest III class from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with the two groups collaborating to create a “Humans of Oshkosh” book.

Out with the old (logo), in with the new

Have you ever looked at your closet and realized you need an update? Your clothes aren’t reflecting what you want to represent about yourself anymore. Well, we’re doing the college marketing version of that. We’ve looked at ourselves and realized that the value we have to our stakeholders doesn’t match the image we’re projecting—so we are changing our look.
