President Bonnie Baerwald attended an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Bosslift last week.
The KC‐135 Stratotanker Air Refueling Mission departed from Madison’s Truax Field. Employers learned about the 115th Fighter Wing and received a Base tour. Bonnie joined other employers of the 115th Fighter Wing members – Wisconsin Air National Guard on a 2 ½ hour mission to conduct an In‐Flight Refueling of US Military Aircraft. Employers received information about the Wisconsin Air National Guard and its crucial role in our nation’s defense mission and why employer support is critical to the success of our reserve forces.
Employers also received a short briefing on the services
provided by ESGR and roles performed to support them and their military
employees to better understand their employee’s vital role in todays’ military.
“The purpose of the ESGR Boss Lift Program is to provide employers and supervisors the opportunity to better understand what their employees do when they are away from their civilian occupations for military duty,” said Scott Lieburn, MPTC’s Dean of Students and current member of the 115th Fighter Wing.

The scene told many stories as roughly 350 Moraine Park Technical College students walked up to the commencement stage on Saturday, May 21, soaked in the moment, and one-by-one wrapped their hands around a diploma – their diploma.

Earning this national Well Workplace designation is a rigorous process. There is an initial review from WELCOA to examine a workplace’s wellness efforts along seven benchmarks. From CEO support to evaluation of outcomes, organizations have to demonstrate they have successfully met the requirements to achieve Well Workplace designation.
Moraine Park’s recent wellness initiatives, primarily organized by Moraine Park’s Health and Wellness Team, have included health risk assessments; education on weight control, cholesterol and healthy eating; flu shots; an Employee Assistance Program; fitness challenges and many other resources and activities.
But according to Lori Schrage, Moraine Park’s benefits coordinator, it’s the buy-in from everyone at the College that has led to the Well Workplace designation and will lead to even more progress in the future.
“Through the efforts of the Health and Wellness Team, all of our participating employees and the support of our management team, Moraine Park was able to achieve the Well Workplace designation, and Moraine Park Technical College will continue to strengthen and enhance our wellness program in the future to improve the health and well-being of our employees,” Schrage said.
