Cosmetology “Highlights” – Facials

MPTC Cosmetology Student performing a facial

Along with learning hair cutting, perming and coloring, Cosmetology students also get to explore the world of Facials.  Some of what they are learning and practicing in the current eight week term include:

  • Skin Analysis and Consultation
  • Skin Types
  • Skin Care Products
  • Facial Massage
  • Facial Equipment
  • Treatments and Procedures

The main purpose of a facial is to preserve the health of the skin.  Daily and proper skin care will keep your skin clean and healthy.  For example, if you have oily skin, washing daily will help eliminate the buildup of oil on the face, which in turn will decrease follicles becoming clogged.  Cosmetologists provide many services to help clients feel and look good and performing a facial is another service they can offer their clients to help them relax and give them a feeling of overall well being.  After completing the required 1,550 State of Wisconsin mandated hours, an MPTC Cosmetology student will be able to obtain a job as a hairstylist, esthetician, or nail technician and this also opens the door to a variety of other creative beauty careers.
