Hired Before Graduation: “You are worth an education”

Moraine Park female student hired before graduation

A degree? Yes. And a job in her field prior to even graduation? Yep.

But there’s more. Recent Moraine Park Technical College Human Resources graduate Kayla Ebert said she gained important life skills as well during her time here.

“The instructors and course material were great. And of course I learned new things, but my entire thought process is changed because I now view the world differently.”

And she needed that.

Throughout her life, Kayla loved manual labor, driving semis and dump trucks and operating robotic welders. She has gotten her hands dirty and worked alongside men in nontraditional occupations.

There were highs and lows to this, and she wasn’t sure what she was truly searching for.

Moraine Park helped her find focus.

“I have worked in many nontraditional occupations where I was the only woman,” Kayla said. “At times, my coworkers weren’t always supportive. I want to help people moving into these areas. Human resources arose as a perfect way to draw from my experiences to help others.”

Kayla earned her Human Resources associate of applied science degree from Moraine Park in May, and earned a job at Argus Tech Services as a manufacturing recruiter before ever graduating.

So if you’re stuck in a rut in life or unsure of what to do with your career, Ebert said starting or continuing your education at Moraine Park may be just the opportunity you need as well.

“Stop second-guessing yourself, stop doubting, and just do it! You are worth an education – and nothing can stop you.”
