As the need for counselors training in treating problem gambling increases, Moraine Park Technical College will now be able to meet that need.

Moraine Park has partnered with the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling and will be offering a 5 credit certificate for Introduction to Problem Gambling.  Introduction to Problem Gambling I will be offered in Fall 2017 and Introduction to Problem Gambling II will be offered in Spring 2018.

This certificate will provide an orientation to gambling addiction, explore the neurobiology and pharmacology of gambling addictions, and prepare the student to evaluate and address the issues of problem gambling disorders for treatment planning. These two courses will prepare students to earn the International Certified Gambling Counselor credential. This 5 credit certificate will be incorporated into the AODA Program and offered as CEU’s for counselors and social workers.
