Moraine Park Commencement Keynote Speaker Announced

Moraine Park Technical College has announced John Torinus Jr. as the keynote speaker for its 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 19.

Torinus has worked as a journalist, entrepreneur and business manager since leaving the U.S Marine Corps, where he served as an artillery company commander. He served for 20 years as the CEO of Serigraph Inc., a graphics parts manufacturer with plants in the U.S. and Mexico, and he continues to serve as an active chairman. Today, he also serves as chairman of West Bend Friends of Sculpture, director for Mikkelsen Cutting Tools LLC and GrandCare LLC, treasurer of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Research Foundation, and a general partner of the Wisconsin Super-Angel Fund, an angel investing fund.  He holds a baccalaureate in industrial administration from Yale and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Stockholm.

Moraine Park’s 2018 Commencement Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Fond du Lac High School field house. Nearly 800 graduate candidates will be receiving associate of applied science degrees and technical diplomas, with approximately 350 graduate candidates expected to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Bonnie Baerwald, Moraine Park president, will preside over the ceremony.

This year’s commencement will also feature student speaker Joseph Jaeger. Jaeger, a nursing student, is Moraine Park’s 2018 Student of the Year.
