Student Earns QuickBooks Certification as Hiring Strategy

The Moraine park accounting curriculum includes training in two of the most popular small business accounting programs: Sage 50 (formerly called Peachtree) and QuickBooks.  Students are also provided the opportunity to complete the QuickBooks certification exam at a reasonable cost. The exam tests technical abilities in order to demonstrate accounting proficiency, and Nancy chose to complete the certification in order to “stand-out from other applicants.”

Nancy is the first college graduate in her extended family, but her inquisitive mind and the encouragement of a high school teacher provided the requisite spark. Self-motivation and effort propelled Nancy to earn a BS at UW-Madison and a teaching certificate at Silver Lake College.

As a special education teacher, she returned the gift. Her patience and understanding helped others succeed.  With time, however, she decided a change was in order.  She recognized that her past office skills needed updating, and she selected Moraine park’s associate in accounting because of the program’s “dual focus on discipline-specific classes and employment as an end goal.”  She added, “I wanted to get back to the world of employment quickly, and Moraine Park looked as if it would meet that goal.”

The QuickBooks certification is a perfect fit.

Her advice to potential accounting students: “Don’t wait; start today.  Many companies are looking for people with up-to-date skills: especially with the newer accounting software programs.”  The fact that Moraine Park’s accounting program teaches two of the most popular small business accounting programs makes Moraine Park a timely choice.
