Health and Wellness Program off to a “Healthy” Start

The Health and Wellness program started just this fall and already has 30 students!

They are busy learning about nutrition, wellness principles, and a healthy lifestyle.

The Health & Wellness career field is expected to offer much faster-than-average job growth through 2020. To respond to this career demand, MPTC created the Health ans Wellness program.  The program is comprised of a progressive career ladder comprised of a Health & Wellness Technician diploma and a Health & Wellness associate degree.

As a student moves toward completion of the program, he/she can become certified as a Chiropractic Technician, Chiropractic Radiographic Technician, ACE Health/Wellness Coach, ACE Personal Trainer expanding a graduate’s options for employment opportunities and career growth.

Health and Wellness Technician Technical Diploma woman throwing a ball, using a rebounder machine By earning a technical diploma as a Health & Wellness Technician, you will be prepared for a career as a technician in a fitness facility, healthcare organization, insurance company, health risk assessment company, or holistic healthcare setting. Your training at Moraine Park will give you the preparation and tools to help others increase fitness, physical performance and improved health. The program focuses on learning wellness concepts, nutrition, human anatomy, theory and practice of fitness, customer service, and healthcare technology systems.

Upon completing the technical diploma, students can become certified as an ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor &/or become Wisconsin state certified in the chiropractic health setting in therapies and radiography. All credits earned in this diploma can be applied toward an associate degree in Health and Wellness to expand career options to include wellness coaching.

Health and Wellness Associate Degree
The Health and Wellness associate degree program is designed for students who want to learn how to coach clients in developing healthy lifestyle habits, including: nutrition, managing daily stress, and becoming more physically active. You will have the option to train for a career as a wellness coach and personal trainer or chiropractic technician. Your education prepares you for entry-level employment in fitness facilities, health care organizations, insurance companies, and other corporate and community environments.
