FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: Eileen Bouchard, cosmetology instructor
While in high school, Eileen Bouchard met a cute boy and fell in love. Turns out, 35 years later they’re still together and still going strong.
Young Eileen also took an interest in styling hair around the same time – and that compelled her to look into the cosmetology field. Turns out, 36 years later, that’s still going strong, too! She’s not only still enjoying that decision and working in the cosmetology industry over a quarter century later, she’s helping others get started in this rewarding career field as well.
Here’s more about Eileen, in her own words:
My name is Eileen Bouchard. I was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and have lived in Wisconsin my whole life other than when I lived in Massachusetts and Ohio when I was 9 until I was 11.
I married my high school sweet heart and have been married 35 years. I have two adult children; a daughter and a son. I have 3 grandsons ages; 5, 3, and 11 months.
Most of the time I’m not in a salon, I enjoy spending time with my family and working outside in my yard.
I choose to go to cosmetology school because I was always interested in hair and wanted to learn more about it. When I started my schooling I thought I would work as a hairstylist until I had my children and then become a full-time mom. I never thought I would enjoy what I do so much that I would be working in the industry 36 years later.
As far as Moraine Park, I believe we have an excellent cosmetology program. The students receive enough theory instruction to really understand what they need to know to be successful and have plenty of hands on experience to practice and perfect their skills.
If you are considering cosmetology, it’s important to practice your people skills, study your angles in geometry and maintain a healthy body.
