Moraine Park hosting hiring event for vets

Moraine Park Technical College is hosting a “Hiring and Resource” event for veterans on March 1.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the College’s Beaver Dam campus, 700 Gould Street, and is co-sponsored by Moraine Park and Dodge County Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

The event is free and open to veterans, active duty and National Guard and Reserves, as well as their family members.

The president of the Dodge County SHRM, Mary Vogl-Rauscher, had a goal for her chapter to act on a statewide pledge to support the hiring of veterans.

“Veterans are on time, have a great work ethic, and are under-employed,” Vogl-Rauscher said, noting this event was a perfect way to support them.

Steve Pepper, Moraine Park’s Student Veteran Specialist, was involved in the early planning stages and emphasized that he wanted this to be an event where employers are actually hiring and not just promoting their companies.

Nearly 20 companies from the greater Dodge county area are participating in the event, presenting local job opportunities to support veterans and their families.

All position levels will be available.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), a County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO) from Dodge County, and an Outreach Specialist from the Vet Center will all be on hand to assist veterans with benefit questions and provide information regarding the services available related to their military service.

Attendees are urged to dress for success and come prepared for interviews since the companies in attendance all have positions available. Attendees should also bring copies of their current resume and verification of military or veteran status (DD214/Veteran ID).

For those wanting assistance leading up to the event, Moraine Park’s Career Center provides free employment resources, including assistance with resumes, cover letters and interview prep. Visit for the Career Center schedule.
