Mechanical design is a branch of mechanical engineering where the designers work collaboratively with engineers to develop products, machines, and tooling.

He is originally from Manitowoc and has been with Moraine Park Technical College for 21 years. His hobbies include kayaking and archery.

Kim originally developed an interest in the field while taking a drafting course in high school. He attended the University of Wisconsin- Stout, where he studied to be a TechEd instructor. After teaching high school for a year, he went into the industry working as a Die Cast Tool Designer for Briggs and Stratton Technologies for 15 years.

Kim recommends you explore this field if you like solving engineering problems while learning new and exciting technology, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, and 3D scanning.
The mechanical design field is in high demand, and many Moraine Park students being are hired prior to graduation.
