And the “Circle of Joy” award goes to …

Moraine Park Technical College held our final IT Careers Completion Ceremony on March 6, 2017 through the U.S. Department of Labor Interface grant program.  In 2014 Moraine Park received $995,662 of a $23.1 million statewide project.  In total, 93 MPTC students earned 126 certificates helping to prepare them for IT careers.  To date, 24 students have used their certificates into career pathways towards IT Associate degrees. Moraine Park Technical College held the final IT Careers Completion Ceremony on March 6, 2017. Thirteen students received Content Management Systems, Website Security, or iOS Web Application Developer and Android Web Application Development certificates through the U.S. Department of Labor Interface grant program.  Two students, Karin Langsdorf and Andrew Bond completed all 4 certificates! Stay out of Traffic!

Through Moraine Park Fair Trade College education efforts, IT and Corrections Club students are helping youth “Stay out of Traffic.” The anti-trafficking initiative began this past October when over 130 participants gathered at our Fond du Lac campus for “Make Fond du Lac a Traffic Free Zone.” This event was designed to bring awareness to the crime of trafficking in people for sex or labor globally, nationally, statewide and locally.

When the Moraine Park IT and Corrections Clubs students learned about the very scary issue of trafficking of youth and young adults in the Fond du Lac area, they wanted to make a difference and help educate kids, parents and guardians.  Continue reading

Is the Super Bowl one of the biggest events for Human Trafficking?

The Moraine Park Fair Trade College team hosted a “Be AWARE!  Help Stop Human Trafficking” event at all three campuses on Tuesday, January 31.  This event featured the short video 5 Shocking Truths about Human Trafficking in America, along with educational information, delicious Fair Trade chocolate chip cookies baked by Tom Endejan and culinary students, and trafficking awareness mini footballs.

It was a timely look at this issue, as Super Bowl weekend is thought to be one of the biggest periods of human trafficking in our country. Continue reading

From January 3 – 18, this group successfully completed Moraine Park Technical College’s Nursing Assistant (CNA) boot camps–a rigorous three-week learning experience. Continue reading

Trick or Treat! Give Me Something Good to Eat!

In celebration of Fair Trade Month, the MPTC Fair Trade College Team and Just Fare Market held a delicious lunch time event on Tuesday, October 25 at the Fond du Lac Campus (see our photos below!). Participants enjoyed Fair Trade chocolate chip cookies made by our very own Instructor Tom Endejan and culinary students.  Just Fare Market provided Fair Trade chocolate samples, as well as a beautiful variety of Fair Trade items for shopping!  Participants also entered a drawing to win Fair Trade chocolate prizes, with the grand prize including a copy of the new book “Bitter Side of Sweet”. First Finished: 10 students complete Medical Assistant cohort

On September 29, 2016 ten students successfully completed Moraine Park Technical College’s Medical Assistant first one year long cohort at the West Bend Campus.
