West Bend High School Students Excited About Health Careers

Recently, 26 West Bend High School students toured Moraine Park’s Fond du Lac campus and performed hands-on activities in a variety of health career fields. The student’s spent the morning with instructors and students in the Medical Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician, Radiography, and Respiratory Therapy programs. The students learned about the careers and performed blood typing, vitals testing, urinalysis, suture removal, positioning for and taking X-rays, intubating a simulated patient, operating a ventilator, and pulse oximetry.

All of the students are enrolled in a dual credit, semester-long course titled, Careers in Allied Health. In the course, students are introduced to the multitude of health career options, customer service skills, and soft skills needed to succeed in the culture of healthcare.  These students are well on their way to figuring out what health career is right for them.
