2019 HIGH SCHOOL ART CONTEST
Enter by April 20, 2019

High School artists are invited to submit digital images of their work in the following categories:

  1. Painting
  2. Drawing
  3. Digital Photography (minimal photo editing allowed-adjustments of color or conversion to grayscale that do not alter content are permitted.)
  4. Digital Photo Creation and Illustration
  5. Sculpture
  6. Illustration-traditional medium
  7. Publication Design (Including newsletters, invitations, and event posters)
  8. T-shirt Design

All art must be submitted in electronic format as JPEG files no more than 4×7 at 200 PPI with a file size not to exceed 5 megabytes. All art must be submitted by APRIL 20, 2019 via email to: artsubmission@morainepark.edu
The following information must be provided for your submission to be considered:

  • Student Name
  • Student Contact Information (email) Student Grade
  • High School Attending
  • Title of Art
  • Category

Limit of two entries per person, per category.

Prizes are:

  • 1st place: MPTC apparel and gift certificate ($50)
  • 2nd place: MPTC apparel and gift certificate ($25)
  • 3rd place: MPTC apparel

Winners will be selected by a panel of Art/Design professionals and the winning entries will be featured online and in a digital art show at the Moraine Park Portfolio Showcase on May 15, 2019.

Students Celebrate Learning for Independence

We all have goals of living independently and being self-sufficient but often obstacles and challenges get in our way.  On May 11, nine students were able to celebrate successful completion of a 2-year Learning for Independence (LFI) Program, moving them one step closer to meeting their goal of independence.  Surrounded by family, friends, instructors and school staff, the students shared their LFI program portfolios and final comments of the program. Girls Make IT Happen, #ITgirls

Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) is doing our part to help increase the number of females in IT with our Girls Make IT Happen, #ITgirls event on June 26 through June 29. The event will feature one day in each of the following IT disciplines: IT Tech Support and IT Network, Graphic Communications, IT Web Developer, and IT Mobile Apps and will run from 1-4 pm each day. The event is geared towards young women entering grades 9-12 this fall interested in exploring IT careers. Continue reading

Best Welder in Washington County

Slinger high school welder Rachel Hau

Moraine Park held a welding competition at our Jackson Campus, Friday, Dec. 2 for high school students.  The event, hosted by our Welding Program, had participants from West Bend and Slinger high schools locate and cut a hole, put the parts together to match a print, then weld them per print.  The students could pick either GMAW, SMAW, or both.

GMAW is gas metal arc welding, and SMAW is Shielded metal arc welding.

Explore the world of CTE on May 10

CTE (Career and Technical Education) offers coursework in a variety of career pathways including Electromechanical Technology. This program offers students an opportunity to explore careers in many areas including the trades and manufacturing fields while they get an introductory education to build on.

Students also have opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities and competition relating to these careers.

To learn more come to West Bend High School on May 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
